Event & Education Committee
The Event/Education Committee assists in organizing CAHON’s events, such as the New York Oncology Forum, and the Community Oncology Forum. The committee works with other CAHON committees to provide educational opportunities for fellows and CAHON members.
Yucai Wang, MD, PhD (Chair)
Dr. Yucai Wang is a lymphoma and CLL specialist at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. He received his MD from Medical School of Nanjing University and PhD from The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He completed his internal medicine residency at Rutgers and hematology/oncology fellowship at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Wang’s research interest includes clinical trials of novel therapies and translational genetic and immunological studies in B-cell malignancies. He is currently the PI of 3 investigator-initiated trials and serves as site PI of more than 15 multicenter trials. His research is funded by Conquer Cancer, Lymphoma Research Foundation, NCI, Industry, and Mayo Clinic. Dr. Wang is the Co-Chair of the Lymphoma Committee of Academic and Community Cancer Research United (ACCRU) and is a member of the ECOG Lymphoma Core Committee.
Christine Ye, MD, MS (Co-Chair)
Dr. J Christine Ye is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center. She is a board-certified hematologist and oncologist who specializes in treating patients with plasma cell dyscrasia. Dr Ye leads national clinical trials and serves as the vice-chair for National Cancer Institute (NCI) Southwestern Oncology Group (SWOG) Multiple Myeloma Committee.
Richard J. Lin, MD, PhD
As a hematologist oncologist, I strive to deliver the best possible care to older patients with hematologic malignancies through both standard of care and clinical trial options in transplantation and chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR T) therapy. At MSK, I work together with a multidisciplinary team and leverage my clinical expertise in geriatrics supportive care and state of art therapeutics and clinical trials. As a clinical investigator, I conduct clinical translational studies in hematological malignancy, transplantation, cellular therapy, and geriatrics/supportive care to improve outcomes for older patients including function, cognition, and quality of life.
Charles Jiang, MD, MPH
Dr. Changchuan (Charles) Jiang is an active researcher with a strong interest in patient-oriented care, and health service research related to cancer patients. His works led into insight on cancer survivorship symptom and comorbidity burden as well as transportation barriers. His works were published in Lancet Oncology, JAMA Oncology, JNCI and other international journals and were widely reported by CA a cancer journal for clinicians, ASCO Post, NEJM Journal Watch, Cancer, and Medscape. His works were also presented at several international conferences including ASCO, ASCO GU Symposium, and ASCO Quality Care Symposium. Notably, he won the ASCO Conquer Cancer Merit Award 3 times since the fellowship started.
Dr. Jiang graduated with honors from Soochow University, Medical College in China. After that, he earned a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from Yale University, CT. He finished the residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt Sinai, Mt Sinai St Luke’s/West, and decided to pursue oncology after rotations at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. After graduating from Roswell Park, Dr. Jiang is now an assistant professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX.
Gary Lu, MD, PhD
Dr. Gary Lu is a board-certified hematology oncologist. He received his medical degree from China Medical University in China and a Doctorate in Philosophy from Rutgers University while studying cancer research and prevention. Dr. Lu completed his fellowship training at Baylor Scott White Health System in Texas. He was St. Luke’s Director of Melanoma Practice and Associate Professor for Temple/St. Luke’s School of Medicine. Dr. Lu joined Texas Oncology in Dallas in 2022 where he continues to excel in the field of cancer care. Dr. Lu lives in Southlake, Texas with his wife and two children. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, skiing and other outdoor activities.
