Welcoming Warmth and Visionary Leadership

The evening began with a warm welcome from Dr. Jing-Zhou Hou, CAHON Board Chair, who set the tone for an evening of celebration and collaboration. Dr. Liang Deng, CAHON’s new President (2024–2026), took the stage to outline her vision for the organization’s future. She announced exciting initiatives, including a new media platform and newsletter designed to amplify CAHON’s voice globally. Her passion for mentorship and innovation resonated deeply with attendees, inspiring optimism about what lies ahead.

Dr. Delong Liu, Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Hematology and Oncology (JHO), highlighted the journal’s growing influence, showcasing CAHON’s enduring commitment to academic excellence and innovation.

Powerful Scientific Insights

The symposium’s scientific presentations served as a reminder of the field’s transformative potential to improve patient care and expand the boundaries of knowledge.

                •              Dr. Robert Negrin, ASH President-Elect, shared his 25-year journey exploring the intricacies of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and graft-versus-leukemia (GVL). His reflections and insights into emerging strategies inspired attendees with a vision for the future of transplantation science.

                •              Dr. Brian Durie, a leader in multiple myeloma research, passionately discussed minimal residual disease (MRD) as a clinical endpoint, along with strategies to address immune dysfunction in myeloma patients.

These presentations were not just educational but a call to action for innovation and deeper collaboration.

Celebrating Emerging Talent

One of the evening’s highlights was the Young Investigator Awards (YIA) presentation. Dr. Hong Zheng introduced the awardees, whose research exemplifies the bright future of hematology and oncology. The applause and recognition they received reflected CAHON’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of leaders.

Mentorship and Connection

The symposium was not only about research — it was about people. During the social time, fellows and residents connected directly with senior CAHON members in an engaging and energetic environment. Stories, advice, and ideas were shared, fostering a sense of belonging and support. Whether attendees sought guidance on academic careers, clinical challenges, or industry opportunities, they left with fresh perspectives and renewed inspiration.

A Sense of Family

Throughout the evening, the atmosphere radiated camaraderie and warmth. From thought-provoking discussions to shared meals, CAHON proved to be more than an organization — it is a family. Leaders like Dr. Liang Deng, who traveled from New York City to attend, exemplified the dedication and connection that CAHON fosters.
